Advertorial

The Johannesburg area of Midrand will celebrate its second annual Midrand Rainbow Pride on Saturday, 5 October 2024.

Hosted by the SA Queer Movement in collaboration with various stakeholders, the event is a celebration of diversity, inclusion, and LGBTQ+ rights.

The City of Johannesburg has officially endorsed the event, which aims to create a safe, inclusive space for the queer community to come together.

“This initiative reflects a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of LGBTQ+ rights,” said the organisers.

Pride-goers can look forward to a vibrant picnic vibe at the Midrand Conference Centre, with a full lineup of entertainers set to keep attendees engaged throughout the day.

One of the highlights will be the presentation of the Trailblazer Award to Simphiwe Majola, a PR sensation, brand engineer, and fashionista.

The event, which kicks off at 9:00 am, will be hosted by Khaya Dladla And Letroy Mashigo, and will go on into the evening.

The theme for this year’s Pride is “Choose a rainbow colour,” encouraging participants to showcase their unique identities with pride.

Entry to the event is free from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, with tickets sold at the gate from 12:00 pm for R100.

Attendees can also bring cooler boxes (no bottles) for an additional fee of R150, but no cooler boxes will be allowed after midday.

For those wanting to keep the celebration going, the official after-party will be held at Kyalami Shiyanyama in Midrand, with free entrance.
