Johannesburg Pride, Africa’s first-ever LGBTQ Pride, celebrated its 29th edition on Saturday, with thousands gathering at Melrose Arch.
The short parade around the precinct was less focused on overt activism and political messaging and was instead primarily a colourful and festive celebration. It also featured a large corporate presence.
The Pride Village provided food, drinks, community stalls and a host of of DJs and performers on stage to entertain the crowds into the evening.
