Tragic end to search for missing Joburg man, Ross Govender
The desperate search for Ross Govender, the 31-year-old Johannesburg interior architect who disappeared on 19 January, has ended in tragedy.
It has since come to light that he was involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident after leaving Babylon bar in Illovo.
On Saturday, Govender’s sister posted on Facebook: “It is with a very heavy heart that I have to let you all know that today we discovered that my beloved brother Ross was involved in a car accident last Friday which he tragically did not survive.
“I would like to thank everyone who shared our posters looking for him, who sent their best wishes, and who, like us, was hoping for a much happier outcome. Life can be short and is very precious. Tell people that you love them and don’t sweat the small stuff. We will never forget you Ross. Xx”
The family has requested privacy in this time of mourning. Mambaonline offers Govender’s friends and family our sincere condolences.
Govender was the third member of the LGBTQ community to go missing in Johannesburg in recent weeks.
On 2 January, 28-year-old Ruan Uys and his current or former boyfriend Alberto Dejesus went missing in Boksburg North.
Uys’s frantic mother told Mambaonline on Friday that there was still no news about her son’s whereabouts. For more information on this case, click here.
