Watch the trailer for the new ‘Queer Eye For The Straight Guy’
The official trailer for the reboot of the Queer Eye For The Straight Guy makeover series is out – and it’s filled with fun, fabulousness and heart.
The American reality series debuted in 2003 and featured a team of five gay men who gave participants a lifestyle makeover, including wardrobe, décor, cooking and other advice.
Featuring Jai Rodriguez, Kyan Douglas, Carson Kressley, Ted Allen, and Thom Filicia, it became a surprise hit, winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Program and running for five seasons before it was cancelled.
Now the show – simply retitled Queer Eye – has been revived by Netflix with an all new set of ‘fab five’ queer men who will help those less fortunate when it comes to matters of style and social sophistication.
“With a new Fab 5 and some very tough missions, the Emmy-winning show is back and ready to make America fabulous again … one makeover at a time,” says Netflix.
The Queer Eye cast was whittled down from hundreds of potential lifestyle experts. The final group consists of Bobby Berk (design), Karamo Brown (culture), Antoni Porowski (food and wine), Jonathan Van Ness (grooming) and Tan France (fashion).
“The original show was fighting for tolerance. Our fight is for acceptance,” asserts France in the trailer. Berk adds: “Gay, straight… the common thread that holds every human together is that we just want to be loved.”
The new eight part Queer Eye series will make its debut on Netflix in February. Watch the trailer below.
