Zanele Muholi’s 10 Years of Faces and Phases Opening

A new exhibition celebrating 10 years of Zanele Muholi’s remarkable Faces and Phases series of photographic portraits, recently opened at the Stevenson Gallery in Johannesburg.
The iconic and acclaimed project has documented more than 250 mainly black lesbian and transgender individuals from South Africa and beyond.
The opening was attended by hundreds of fans, including the likes of Constitutional Court Justice Edwin Cameron, as well as many of those captured in Muholi’s striking images.
The exhibition runs until 14 October. Photographer David Penney was there to capture the celebration.
