Could you be SA’s 2017 Mr Gay World contestant?
Entries are now open for the 2016 Mr Mardi Gras South Africa (MRMGSA) pageant, which will choose the country’s representative in next year’s Mr Gay World contest.
The event will take place in Knysna during the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras & Arts Festival from 27 April to 1 May.
Contestants must be South African men between the ages of 18 and 40. “We are looking for a gorgeous, sexy, irresistible and healthy looking male,” said the organisers.
“Do you have the power to sway conviction through positive attitude, sexy looks and sultry knowledge? Then come strut your stuff and prepare to impress in Knysna…”
The winner of MRMGSA 2016 will receive R20,000 in cash, plus a host of prizes with a combined value of R18,000.
South Africa’s previous Mr Gay World contestants were chosen through the Mr Gay South Africa pageant. However, that event recently lost the Mr Gay World license, which has now been transferred to MRMGSA.
Joburg engineer Oelof de Meyer has been chosen as a “bridging” delegate for this year’s international competition in Malta, which also takes place in April.
South Africa won Mr Gay World in 2010 and 2011 and also hosted the event in 2012 and 2015.
