Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi

Vicious, the brilliant British sitcom about an elderly gay couple’s love-hate relationship, is being screened in South Africa this month.

The Hobbit’s Ian McKellen and stage legend Derek Jacobi play Freddie and Stuart, who’ve been together and living in their London flat for 48 years.

Now retired, they spend their time entertaining friends, looking after their ancient dog Balthazar and, of course, hurling acerbic insults at each other.

The first season is seven episodes long. A second season has been shot and will be screened in the UK later this year, around June.

Vicious is on M-Net Edge (channel 102) from Friday 3, April at 9pm.
