The 25th annual Johannesburg Pride took place in Sandton on Saturday. Hundreds of people participated in a colourful “celebratory parade” through the streets of the city’s booming business hub. Festivities were held until the early evening at Mushroom Farm Park, where the crowd was entertained by performers and DJs.
Joffree Hyman took these fantastic images of the event and the diverse people who took part.

Can’t believe I can’t find one pic that was taken of my fiance and I at pride and there was quite a few.
Nice pics Mamba! Wasn’t there but I think you caught the best of it. General chitter about the day doesn’t seem positive at all though.
yep, this was just awesom for words….1st experience and it was mega!!!! thank you sandton!!!
I was there for about 10 minutes. If this is “Pride” I would rather be closeted. When do we get to vote for a new committee? Plenty of people keen to help, but somehow the “people doing pride” doesn’t want the help of those that offer.
Well Stuart Hillary posted on his Facebook something quite apt: “People who choose to put on events whether for profit or charity should be qualified and experienced enough to pull it off.. it does the gay community no justice if it is a balls up. The people are never wrong. The organisers are..”
The current Pride Organisers have done nothing to include the community. I think that Pride should return to a simple march to claim our presence in society. Not badly organised events that threaten the respect vendors once had for the “Pride Movement”.
i have walk the pride march from the 1st pride. i had to miss the last 2 events due to work. it looked like alot of fun as always. well done guys…and girls.
So correct me if i am wrong.
The previous committee were attacked because they were not sticking to their roots as gay pride.
After 1 in 9 disrupted things, things were supposed to be for the people and i think there is a member from 1 in 9 on the committee. So tell me please how having it in Sandton now is “for the people” And pride sucked. At least the previous organizers could “organize.
