ELLEN DENIES MARRIAGE WOES

Ellen DeGeneres has used her talk show to dismiss rumours that her marriage to actress Portia de Rossi is in trouble.

The American comedienne humorously addressed the tabloid reports this week.

“The other day I’m at the hair salon getting these extensions,” DeGeneres joked.

“And there’s tabloids all over the hair salon — that’s where they are, I guess. All of a sudden I notice one sitting on the counter in front of me. It caught my eye because Portia and I were in the top right-hand corner and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s sweet, they’re honouring us.’

“And then I read the headline underneath and it said ‘Ellen and Portia’s Marriage Crumbles.’ I was like, ‘Oh, what happened? They seemed so happy. And then I was like, ‘Wait, I’m Ellen.” And I should know if that was happening.’”

She said that when she turned to the page, it had been ripped out. “I’ll never know what’s tearing my marriage apart. I don’t know what’s happening,” DeGeneres quipped.

She then became serious and said: “There’s not one ounce of truth to any of it. I am very happily married. The only thing we ever argue about is who loves who more. It really is true.”

After dating for four years, DeGeneres (55)  and de Rossi (40) married on 16 August 2008.

The couple’s wedding ceremony was famously featured on the cover and in the pages of America’s People celebrity magazine.

In 2010, de Rossi applied to legally change her surname to that of her wife’s; to become Portia Lee James DeGeneres.
