LIRA CELEBRATES 1ST DECADE
South African songstress Lira will be celebrating her first decade in the music business with two shows at Carnival City in Johannesburg at the end of November.
With five studio albums, two live DVDs and two live CDs and multi-platinum sales, Lira is one of the biggest names in the business and has much to celebrate since making her debut 10 years ago. She has become one of South Africa’s iconic songwriters and performers and has many SAMAs and nominations to her credit.
Lira is no stranger to performing live at Carnival City, the DVD of her 2009 concert went on to achieve triple platinum sales and won the award for Best Global Chart DVD at the 2010 SAMAs.
“It will be a three-tier experience for the fans. As an artist, I communicate what I value the most, Love, Celebration and Inspiration,” Lira of the upcoming show.
“It is through these three things that fans can engage with me, through my recorded music, my live performances and my soon to be released biography.”
She went on to add: “It is going to be spectacular, a beautiful presentation of music and dance reflecting on the last ten years.”
In a 2011 interview with Mambaonline, she said: “I think gay boys love singers. I think there’s something that resonates with them in as far as the diva performer goes.”
Lira added: “My gay friends and fans have contributed a lot in me coming out of my shell and exploring new and exciting things”.
Lira’s First Decade Concerts are on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 November at the Big Top Arena, Carnival City. Booking is at Computicket and tickets are from R105 to R350. Early booking is advised.
