Kellan Lutz in Hercules: The Legend Begins

American actor Kellan Lutz puts on a traffic-stopping performance in the trailer for his new film Hercules: The Legend Begins. Well, at least his muscles do.

The hunky Lutz (28) first found fame after playing Emmett Cullen in the hit film adaptations of the Twilight books.

He also made a splash in the relatively minor – but appropriately shirtless – role as the god Poseidon in the film The Immortals (2011).

That year, Lutz told The Advocate magazine that his gay fans “are the best”.

“I love them. When I meet gay fans out and about, they’re so great to talk to — and I’m big on hugging, because I’m from the Midwest. They’re just so energetic and loving.”

He’s now back in the mythological realm as the hero Hercules, once again giving his beautifully buff body more big screen exposure.

What remains to be seen is if Lutz can deliver more than a physically impressive performance and can carry a big budget film on his own.

All will be revealed when Hercules: The Legend Begins, directed by Renny Harlin, is released in South Africa next year (in 3D nogal).

In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
