Kenneth Weishuhn in happier times

A 14-year-old American boy in Iowa has committed suicide after he became a victim of an anti-gay Facebook group set up by his classmates.

By all accounts, Kenneth Weishuhn was a happy young man until a few months ago. This changed when he came out to his friends at South O’Brien High School earlier this year.

His classmates allegedly created the Facebook group against him and added his friends as members. Kenneth also began receiving telephonic death threats.

His mother, Jeannie Chambers, said to KTIV that her son had told her: “Mom, you don’t know how it feels to be hated.”

Kenneth’s sister Kayla added: “People that were originally his friends, they kind of turned on him. A lot of people, they either joined in or they were too scared to say anything.”

“To make someone feel so horrible about themselves, so miserable. To make them hate themselves they way my brother must have,” she said.

On Sunday, Kenneth finally buckled in to the pressure and committed suicide.

Kenneth’s mother said that she’s unsure if she wants to press charges against the bullies: “I really don’t want to ruin somebody else’s life, or take someone else’s son or daughter from them. But, I don’t know what it’s going to take to get it to stop.”
