RUSSIAN POLITICIAN THREATENS MADONNA
The politician behind the recently-adopted bill banning “the promotion of homosexuality” in St. Petersburg has responded to Madonna’s promise to speak out against the law when she performs in the Russian city in August.
Last week, the Girl Gone Wild singer said that she will “come to St. Petersburg to speak up for the gay community, to support the gay community” and that that she will “speak during my show about this ridiculous atrocity”.
The law’s author, assemblyman Vitaly Milanov, responded by telling Russia’s Interfax news agency that “I’m ready to personally suffer a couple of hours of her concert”.
He threatened to charge the Material Girl under the law if she speaks out against it in her show and also plans “to control [the show’s] moral content”.
Some LGBT activists have welcomed Madonna’s stance while others have called on the star to instead cancel the show in St. Petersburg and they have even threatened to picket her concert.
“The law will stay in force, Madonna will leave and the Russian LGBT-community will be humiliated even more,” wrote leading LGBT rights activist Nikolai Aleksev on his blog.
St. Petersburg’s ‘The Promotion of Homosexuality, Lesbianism, and Transgenderism to Minors’ law bans any Pride events or any “public activities promoting sodomy, lesbianism, bisexuality and transgender identity” in the city.
I am appauled to even read something like this in 2012. It’s sick and I’m tired of homophobic people, Bigoted heterosexuals, their day will come.
I have seen side by side historical and merdon photos but this is great! Wonderful work and I see it took some very careful placements in the merdon photography. I am inspired to do some local ones for my area too. Unbelievable and somewhat disturbing. This is great art!Thank you for sharing it.
