MAN OVERBOARD ON GAY CRUISE
A British man has fallen overboard during a gay cruise on the largest cruise liner in the world, just off the Mexican coast.
The 30-year-old un-named man was seen by a fellow passenger go over the balcony of the 11th deck of the Allure of the Seas on Friday.
The alarm was raised and a search was initiated for the missing man.
Based on CCTV footage of the incident it appears that the passenger may have purposely jumped into the sea at around 7am following an eighties party the previous night.
The ship was hired by Atlantis Events for the gay cruise. It was sailing from Fort Lauderdale and was approaching Cozumel in Mexico when the man went overboard.
The Mexican navy and coastguard have been searching for the man but there is now little hope that he will be found alive.
Royal Caribbean International, which owns the ship, said: “Our care team is providing support to the guest’s family and our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
There were almost 5,000 passengers on board at the time of the incident.
In February last year an American man was arrested for drug dealing during another gay cruise on the Allure of the Seas.
