GAGA & GOOGLE TO BE HONOURED FOR SUPPORTING LGBT TEENS

Lady Gaga and Google will be honoured by America’s leading LGBT suicide prevention organisation next month for their ongoing support of gay and lesbian youth.

The Trevor Project will bestow the Trevor Hero Award to Gaga and the Trevor 2020 Award to Google Inc at the “Trevor Live” show in Hollywood on Sunday, December 4.

The annual show benefits the life-saving work of The Trevor Project, recently recognised by the White House for its efforts in suicide prevention within the LGBT community.

“Our young people are at the centre of a health crisis, and vocal leaders like Lady Gaga and technology leaders like Google Inc have stepped up to help change our culture,” said David McFarland, Interim Executive Director and CEO of The Trevor Project.

The Trevor Hero Award recognises Lady Gaga “for being an inspiration to youth and increasing visibility and understanding of the LGBT community”.

Gaga recently announced the launch of her ‘Born This Way Foundation’ to support programs and initiatives to empower young people.

The Trevor 2020 Award will go to Google Inc. for the company’s support of the LGBT community and for increasing visibility and understanding of LGBT issues.

The Trevor Project said that Google Inc. has become a leader in championing LGBT workplace equality over the past decade and supporting LGBT youth organisations.

The Trevor Live show will feature a host of celebrities including Fergie, Mary J. Blige, Miley Cyrus, Queen Latifah, Neil Patrick Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Jane Lynch, Josh Duhamel, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and many more.
