Yummy. Some nice guys to look at…
Minority report. For a small community, we’re very talented at bombing each other out. I acknowledge that there are still prominent differences in social culture, but moaning from the sidelines when you could participate and consequently change appearances – which is what Chlora seems deeply concerned about – can’t be a better way to go. Be the change you want to see. Enough of the bitchy backbiting, guys. Simultaneously, it’s crass to form an elitist class that promotes the very behaviour we’ve all fought against – Us vs Them; Haves vs Have Nots (noughts?).
Wowee. Hothothot
RE: WHITE GAY MALE PRIDE. Unashamedly WHITE GAY MALE PRIDE! no sense of responsibility towards the rest of the community. Flaunting privilege and resources without blinking! CAPE TOWN PRIDE IS JUST ONE BIG MONEY MAKING HOAX!
Work for it. Ag jy weet! Most of the successful gay white guys in my circle are guys who have worked hard for what they’ve achieved, without handouts from the government, free study loans or similar priveleges that the ‘previously disadvantaged’ have these days. So please Clora, stop being so bitter, stop feeling so sorry for yourself, get of your backside and WORK FOR IT GIRL!! I make no apologies for my success, I deserve the best and I work for it. If you want to convince yourself every goodlooking successful white gay guy comes from a spoiled background etc then we have a problem, but it’s YOUR PROBLEM!
Responsibility towards who?. …the rest of the community? How do you know to what extent any of these guys are involved with the rest of the community? And why must there always be someone with their hand held out saying ‘gimme gimme..?’ Yes there’s a place and time for everybody to share and to be involved with our respective communities. But there’s also our own lifes to live and enjoy. Why crucify anyone for their success?
fuck. what a disguisting reply!
why jp?. Be a little more clear about why you find this reply disgusting….. What part of it touched a nerve for you? I tend to agree with what azayin wrote here. Why should any of these guys be crucified for enjoying their success?
White gay male pride. I was at the Pool Party and yes it was almost exclusively White and male, but not entirely. But I was also at the Pride Pageant that same evening where most of the audience were Coloured. Different Pride events appeal to different demographics. Proud Chlora was as welcome to the pool party as to any other event.
And if Pride does make any money it goes towards the Pride Shelter, soon to open its doors, a facility for GBLTI people who for some reason have to seek temporary shelter. Pride is not a money making hoax. Get your facts right
Yikes!. Someone obviously doesn’t have their facts “straight”…. there have been MANY events, and I attended 5 of these, different people are attracted to different events so your comment is totally unfounded, and you’re obviously trying to make trouble for Pride. Were you at the event at Mzoli’s, for example? And were you at the incredible parade on Saturday, which was totally diverse? And for the record I am coloured and proud to be associated with Cape Town Pride. Maybe next year you will become involved as a volunteer, instead of just bitching from behind your computer.
Congratulations to CT Pride. I cannot but note the negative and bitchy comments here, instead of anyone having the balls to stand up and congratulate CT Pride on an incredible Festival of diverse events. I so agree with BarryR – GET INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY EVENTS if you want them to satisfy your needs! There have also been really nasty comments from two guys on Facebook who this morning wanted to start a petition against the Pride Shelter Trust!!! It seems that when ever a small group of people take the lead and do something really constructive for our community, a few bitter souls feel left out and try their damnest to destroy what is good! Come on guys – after such a fantastic festival, let’s celebrate our community and if you feel left out for some reason, make an effort to become included next year. I challenge you!
Gay flag. Lets not forget to congratulate the GAY FLAG OF SOUTH AFRICA who hosted this party and sponsored CT Pride. Well done
Well done!. Cape Town Pride was phenomenal. I really felt that it epitomised the global LGBTI spirit. I was both impressed and surprised at the outstanding collective contribution by those involved in planning pride.
