. Hey i am so sorry i am a gay man but the straights do H2O soooo much better, look how filthy the water is sis man!!! Next time do a better job!
AGH PURLEEEZ. Did you even bother to go out from behind your computer screen dude? If you did go and if you took note of the weather, you would have realised that the mega storm the night before resulted in a mini flood… Rain, water and flooding resulted in all the beach sand been washed into the pool… Like duh… Anyway it made the pool look more like the sea… Its a concept party, and it was fun, even though the weather did not play along… Note to self, attend the next one and maybe you could lighten up and nopt be such a bitter old fart…
Wow!. Looks like we missed one helluva party…NOT! Why is the pool the colour of the hippo dam at the zoo?
agree with BOB. i agree with Bob, i was not at H2O but it seems gay guys only bother posting on here when they need to have a bitch or a moan…..why is this? c’est la vie, i guess!!
Huh???. Is this the way people dress to a pool party in SA??
Most of the guys are in jeans and shirts…its a pool party boys not a typical night out…. six packs, retro slim fit boardies and sunglasses ??? or are we hiding something 🙂
ps: they could have done an emergency clean up of the pool in the morning, it looks really bad.
AN ACCURATE REVIEW. Ok, so based on the comments of previous posters, there were some logistical problems wrt the massive storms the previous night. This resulted in the water being murky and no beach sand. Now I winder about the rest of the issues that was within the organisers’ control.
When looking at the flyer that advertised the event it boasts:
H20 LAUNCHES IN SPECTACULAR STYLE AS WE TURN THE GAY CLUB TEMPLATE UPSIDE DOWN!! This created an expectation of something extraordinary and massive. Instead, all we got were a few fleamarket stalls and extended outside space with a new lapa. Hardly spectacular.
DEDICATED VIP AREA: I’m still trying to find this VIP area. Nowhere in or around the venue was there a visible space where ‘VIP’S’ could party, no dedicated bar, no safer parking or separate entrance normally associated with a ticket that cost more than twice the amount of a regular ticket. This was just blatant thievery. The organisers should be ashamed that they’d rob guys who are regular patrons to Risque in this manner. MASSIVE FAIL THERE!!
SEXY LIFEGUARDS ON DUTY (WITH FREE RUBDOWN) I guess the fact that the sun was not blazing was adequate reason to cancel the lifeguards altogether because all day there was not a single ‘sexy lifeguard’ in sight and the absence of suntan lotion was overwhelming!! MASSIVE FAIL THERE!!
OUTRAGEOUS COCKTAILS ALL DAY!! Not for lack of trying but the only cocks and tails I saw where those at the urinals. ANOTHER OUTRAGEOUS FAIL!!
FOAM AREA SMIRNOFF MULE COMPETITION – WIN A TRIP FOR TWO TO MOSCOW!! MASSIVE GIVE-AWAYS ETC….. Again, there where no announcements made during the day, we did not see anything handed out to the crowd and to my knowledge, no trip to Moscow was won! If I’m wrong on the last part I ask that the organisers announce the winner (with pics at the event) of this great price. A story on this site would do well to explain your side and reasoning behind the MASSIVE FAILURE THAT WAS GAYH20.
Finally, it would do you well to go back to the drawing board and revise your approach to getting people through the door. Creating an event with massive promises and huge hype will do the trick once. BUT: when those promises are really empty promises with no intent to deliver you’ve made yourself guilty of FALSE ADVERTISING. Similarly, when your intentions are good but you FAIL TO DELIVER on your promises the same thing will happen: people will stay away from your venue and your events.
If you disagree with this review, please do so without attacking me and by stating your reasons why you disagree.
ramp divas. by the sea/dam.
Well said Azayin. It’s all big promises but little delivery. They owe us all an explanation…
Disappointed. I’m still a little sour by the whole thing.
There were 6 of us who spent over R700 on VIP and Normal Tickets expecting all the promises on the advertising!
I know you can’t do anything about the weather but ultimately it didn’t rain on the day and nothing that was advertised was done – sorry except for the DJ line-ups. Feel sorry for a few of them that played to empty floors.
But getting back to my point of paying the entrance – we may as well have driven to Pta and gone clubbing at Legends – it would have cost us less and at least we would have been assured of a kick-ass party!
We stayed till relatively late when alot more people started arriving and everyone that I spoke to was bitching about paying R80 for entrance at 10pm once the H20 thing was already over.
We left soon after – our party mood had abandoned us big time!
Sorry guys – I’m a fan but I’m beginning to feel ripped off.
HOW EXTRAORDINARILY ORDINARY. It is no wonder the turnout was dismal. How many times do ACTUALLY think you going to get away with this false advertising? Are you really that arrogant? Is there some kind of special school that South African business owners attend to learn the art of over promise and under deliver?
Enquiry. Only White People?
. If you and your buddies were there, then there would have been more black guys yes!
. number 11
Pic 15. Who’s the hottie on the right in Pic 15?
. i think bruce has lost the plot how dirty was the water who the guy in photo 9 in the blue jeans and white shirt is hot where can i get his nr.and the guysin pics 12 r hot what a let down. i think bruce must first renavate risque maybe then more people will come to the next on
so sad. Give something like H2O to the queens, and they are sure to criticize and run it down, big time! I think there should have been more girls, more straight people to add some eye candy.
Boksburg is in the east, but we host a much better H2O than you can in Fourways, I thought there were thousands in attendance? Also it was on the same day as the Currie Cup final, yes, gay boys also watch rugby!
Good luck for next time!
DEMAND AN EXPLANATION. Based on the comments following my review on here it has become very clear that most people are unhappy about the event and false advertising. I suggest that everybody write to the stakeholders at Risquelounge here: http://www.risquelounge.co.za/ and lodge your complaint. Also make sure to demand an explanation on this site. I think it’s the only way the owners will be able to redeem themselves if they even care to. Alternatively you can mail them directly here: adrian@risquelounge.co.za and bruce@risquelounge.co.za
I have been watching the risquelounge website for an update or explanation but it seems the website is as dead as that party.
Letter to the owners of Risque. My letter has been posted. Have yours?
Dear Bruce and Adrian,
RE: GAYH20
It has become abundantly clear that the patrons at your recent GAYH20 feel cheated and are massively disappointed at your presentation of this event. I have taken the liberty of copying the comments on mambaonline for you to read. As a regular patron to your venue I feel that I am obliged to tell you that you messed up BIG TIME. Please read my review titled: AN ACCURATE REVIEW of your event on mambaonline. I would also add that the majority of people that I have personally contacted and spoken to share the sentiments of my review and those of the other posters on mambaonline.
If you care at all you should post in the very least some sort of explanation in the form of an article on mambaonline, and an apology to the people who were bamboozled out of their money. Furthermore I have no problem calling for a boycott of your venue until this matter has been cleared up. You should know how damaging word of mouth and the power of the internet can be.
dear azayin. Dear Azaiyn.
I am not going to get into a cat fight in public with you.
If you had a problem then be a man and call me or mail me and I am sure I would have made things right.
To sit down and write what you did with out finding out what happend shows me you realy dont care about other people but yourself.
We have done a lot for the gay guys and girls out there and to runt and rave about one problem you had and not look what we have done there is a bit of a low blow.
I am waiting for your mail or call.
Best
Bruce
THIS CONCERNS THE PUBLIC. Thank you Bruce for your reply here. In response to your letter I feel I need to point out to you that it is pretty obvious that I am not the only person who had a problem with how you handled this event and the current state of your venue. You only need to read all the comments on this website to get a clear picture of the sentiment among the majority of people. I have emailed you and Adrian but will take your invitation to a call as well. Let it be known that I will make public everything that is discussed. I disagree with you that this should not play out in public, as this is a very public issue. Furthermore, as it not only I that have a problem it would probably be wise that you extend this invitation to everybody that posted on here and not just to me.
Kind regards.
Hi there.
To all the guys and girls out there that is not happy…
Yes I am the first to say there were short comings at the party,
Let us get some facts right first.
(1) Yes the pool was dirty…This was because of a very big cloud storm that happened of Friday night……this washed all the sand into the pool with most of the sand from Main rd.
(2) This was one thing that no one can count on.
(3) The whole outside was flooded as the outlets could not coup.
(4) We worked hard on this just to clean it up and to get rid of the sand and mud around the pool and I would like to thank the staff for all the work they did to get this right.
(5) We had a decision to make should we go on or not?
(6) We made the decision to still go ahead as this is one thing to do the show goes on.
(7) 94.7 day went on even with a large storm on the day we, stayed and watched the show, its what you make of it, we were standing in mud and very wet.
(8) Two years ago we had tons of rain at pride and people had to have their cars towed out, but we went on and got things right even if a few people were out there to run the board down (well done to them)
After all 99.999% of the people come to the club to hear the dls that were there on the day.
Yes the Dj line up was very good and to if you went to a club you would pay more than R100.00 just to have one or more of them to play.
We paid in excess of R40000.00 for the Dj line up and were given all of them on the day.
As for the life guards. We took a decision that the we would not use the pool as we did not think this would be fair to them and to the clients.
They were going to play ball games in the pool and entertain the people there.
As you can see it would be better for all that this did not happen we will do this at a later stage when the pool is at its best (it is now blue and nice)
As for the cocktails and Mule competition.
(1) We had a under taking by Smirnoff for the Smirnoff mule competition where we would be the first to use this competition but they had to move it to a later date ( as you know adds and flyers are made months in advance) This will still take place.
(2) This was cancelled by them at the last minute as the national roll out was held up and would be done at a later stage
(3) As the cocktails were made around this it was not feasible to do them.
(4) In its place we cave away I pod boom boxes and lots of T shirts caps and lanyards.
As you can see the most important element of the party the Djs did perform and you were given what you paid for all the extras were the as add on and not the main attraction to the party.
We only charge tills all the name dj had played then we went back to a free entry.
All in all yes there were problems and we did our best to give the people what they paid for and for R80.00 were given very good value.
We will be fine tuning this type of party and will be having them more frequent up to 4/5 a year and we are certain that despite all that happened we will be in a better position to deal with problems in the future.
Lots of people had a good time and if you did not then I am very sorry I really cant make everyone happy all the time.
Some people called me and told me what they liked and did not like and I have listened to them and have made corrections and given them free entry to the next event.
To me this would be the best way to handle a problem and instead of ranting and raving about it do something positive and this will make all event s better.
We do not go out there to rip people off if you think so then you should try do an event and run a club for a year and see if it that easy.
To all the guys that had a good time thank you there were over 1000 there well done guys.
Best
Bruce
Risques listen up. I’d suggest that the management of Risque start taking note of the comments and the fact that patrons are speaking up. Should things not change in a big way and soon. Then these guys and gals are going to go find better and more exciting party venues.
Clean up, change the car guards and bouncers and freshen up the look in anticipation of the Silly Season and deliver on what you tell your patrons!
It’s about time that the community stopped putting with owners who are only in it for the bucks and not actually giving back to the community.
Boycott. I am totally with you on that one Max and have called out the owners for an explanation. I suggest we hit them where it matters: their pockets and more importantly their reputation. Tell all your friends and ask them to also spread the word!! Don’t let it stop there. Hit the contact button on this website and leave a comment to the webmaster, who will make sure the editors get hold of this story. Also write to:
Email: exitnews@iafrica.com Telephone: 0116222275 Fax: 0116166487 Postal: PO Box 28827, Kensington 2101, South Africa and share your views there. The more people the greater the chances that these guys will not be in the position to host another mediocre event under false promises and advertising.

Pic 21 and 22. That guy seems to really be enjoying himself. It sounds like Risque has really wronged everyone, I’m sure an explanation might restore some faith in them (except if they really WERE just out to take advantage). It is completely possible that they intended for things to be the way they had advertised but then the arrangements fell through or whatever – but at LEAST an explanation for the people that spent their money and time would be GREAT! Although I’m sure they would rather let the whole thing blow over because if they give some kind of explanation then it will cause more people to find out about it and it will blow the whole thing out of proportion. Maybe if they throw another party to apologise to all their loyal customers… and make sure the turn out is GREAT and that everyone has the TIME OF THEIR LIFE!
Shame. If you want to see how a Pool Party should be run, check out the Shame parties at the Glen Hotel in Cape Town
TO ALL PEOPLE THAT WAS PMS’ing ABOUT THE POOL. Bruce and the club did not ask for the rain – God said let it rain and id pored with rain that Friday evening. This coments about the water and the pool and the venue!!!!WTF – Grow up people and stop this shit, if u dont like it there dont come there then.i dont see what the BIG problem is here – it was still a great event and fun to see some people in the pool….
Come now Q. Come now Q. This issue is not about a dirty pool and u know it. You state that if people don’t like it there then they shouldn’t come. Do the owners know you are making such wild statements in their defense? People paid good money for nothing. That’s what this is about!!
we got real value. please we got top dj’s that played ,erica elle, grant and enelle, mark stent, red richard, the smirnoff box boys, leroy and many more….for R80.00 I think we got more than we paid for
Next time you see a line up of djs like that take note how much you pay.
just look at mcqp R350.00 go to jet to see grant and enelle you pay R150.00 just for them, erica Elle alone at casablanca you pay R100
now who got value for money.
get a life we never pay to go to Risque and when they put on djs you dont want to pay….what do you want?
VIP. Don’t forget that the VIP entry was more than double that amount. I gather Bruce knew about these problems yet he did not offer anything in return to those who paid the ridiculous VIP charge, like drinks on arrival etc. There were many things he could have done to fix those problems but he hoped people would just accept the mediocrity and not say anything. PATHETIC

That looks like the river Genges!!. Hahahaha!
. Looks like it was a lot of fun , Sorry we missed it……..
BRUCE & co. Again, I have to thank you for taking the time to post a lengthy reply here and clarifying matters to some degree. I do feel that you have focused a lot on the fact that there were storms the previous night, which caused some logistical problems. I can appreciate that there was only that much you could do to sort this before the event. In regards to the other issues as mentioned in my review I still do not understand the lack of delivery and your excuses do not really clarify anything.
YOUR EXCUSES ANALYSED. Here are a few points as mentioned by you and some suggestions:
1 (As for the life guards. We took a decision that the we would not use the pool as we did not think this would be fair to them and to the clients) : the rest of the day was sunny so you could have used the lifeguards in very many imaginative ways. The point is that you should have kept in mind what people expected instead of taking everything away completely. The focal point was the pool and when that fell away, so did all your entertainment. Not very smart. No plan B?
2) Smirnoff comp and cocktails: (This was cancelled by them at the last minute as the national roll out was held up and would be done at a later stage. As the cocktails were made around this it was not feasible to do them): I am currently in contact with Smirnoff and awaiting a reply to check these facts. My opinion is that you could still have gone ahead with the cocktails, seeing as the stock and the bartenders would have been there already. Unless all the stock was removed by Smirnoff (which i strongly doubt), there really was no excuse not to do the cocktails. Regarding the competition: I will be awaiting an announcement by Risque.
3) (In its place we cave away I pod boom boxes and lots of T shirts caps and lanyards) : There was ONE boombox to my knowledge and as per many posters on here, no giveaways took place.
4) (After all 99.999% of the people come to the club to hear the dls that were there on the day. As you can see the most important element of the party the Djs did perform and you were given what you paid for all the extras were the as add on and not the main attraction to the party): ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE!! An event like H2O is not just based on the deejays but on the complete package. Please do not try to redeem yourself with this vitriol!! Every gay guy will tell you that if something fabulous is promised then that is what is expected. I did not buy my ticket with the deejays in mind but in anticipation of what you were going to transform the entire event/ venue into. The same is true for many others! The rest is absolutely NOT JUST ADD-ONS and if you truly believe that then you have a whole lot to learn about events.
YOUR EXCUSES ANALYSED. 5) VIP tickets: You still have not addressed this issue as per my original review. A reminder: (DEDICATED VIP AREA: I’m still trying to find this VIP area. Nowhere in or around the venue was there a visible space where ‘VIP’S’ could party, no dedicated bar, no safer parking or separate entrance normally associated with a ticket that cost more than twice the amount of a regular ticket. This was just blatant thievery. The organisers should be ashamed that they’d rob guys who are regular patrons to Risque in this manner)
I believe there were many guys who got these tickets and am still baffled. None of your reasons from your statement gives an explanation as to why there were no DEDICATED areas etc as per your promises. The dirty pool was not the VIP AREA and there are many things you could have done to compensate those who paid more than twice the regular price.
AND FINALLY:
6) (Lots of people had a good time and if you did not then I am very sorry I really cant make everyone happy all the time………..To me this would be the best way to handle a problem and instead of ranting and raving about it do something positive and this will make all event s better): This statement flies in the face of every person who had the guts to come forward and complain. Nobody was ranting and raving but were addressing a serious issue. This site is an excellent forum to do just that and your statement here just proves that you are very nonchalant about this whole issue. It’s like shrugging your shoulders and saying ‘ oh well!!’ That is not acceptable. You are creating the impression that we are ungrateful sods and unreasonable for complaining.
To that I say: ‘Oh well. You are the architect of your own demise.’
. Look Azayin
Looks like you tye of guy that no one can help or Satisfy…please if you are not happy then you will never be happy.
All I can say is there was a vip area and it had a security there all night long…I dont need this in my life and if you want your R180.00 bring me your ticket and I will give you your money back and please dont come to any of my clubs or events again and we will all have a good time without you.
Best
Bruce
The easy way out.. It was very clear from my last post that i now regard this matter as finalized. As i stated, your attitude to address these issues as voiced by very many of your patrons was not very forthcoming and nonchalant. To get personally insulting does not win you any points. Keep in mind that a lot of people share my viewpoint and your shrugging this away with ‘don’t come to my events’ will loose you money and respect. I have and had no intention of retrieving any money from you. I can afford to part with R180-00. That is not the point. The point was to address your false advertising and mediocre presentation, which we have now done. The conclusion is very obvious: you couldn’t care less. I can assure you that i have no desire or intention to come to your club. Just do not make the mistake of thinking I have gone. From this point on you and all your events will be watched with very critical eagle eyes and I only hope you can redeem yourself and your reputation. Your words here have done nothing in aid of that.
The end.
. just goes to show how much you realy know…. if you took the time to find out before you say things…… mule is a whole new drink and no stock is avalible yet and when it is we will have it in stock and if you want the guys no from smirnoff send me a mail and will give you their mail address and cell no.
as i said you are a pain and realy i dont get into a cat fight in public so please if you not happy all i can say come get your money back and you dont have to come to the club we will have a good time without you
and when you have done a few events and run a club or bar then we can talk.
My god man. Look AZAYIN Things sometimes go wrong and when they do also sometime horribly wrong. Maybe on your planet (planet of the Queens) things are always perfect. But who cares, ppl had a great time so drop it already. I would love to see you even try a piss up in a brewery. You go on and on, don’t you have a life? Just go get your refund for the ticket as I am sure(by the sounds of it) you are very hard up for and stop your crap. If you ask nicely I am sure Bruse would even give you R20 extra for petrol.
Beater doesn’t get it. First before you want to attack someone make sure you can spell or at least use the spell check!
Now I think you’ve missed the whole point about the contents of Azayin’s posts.
I think his points are very valid – it’s a shame that we as a community get scammed and then defend the scam!
When reading the advertising of that event, it made out to be something quiet special. It raining the night before only affected the water quality – nothing else so why not deliver on the promised advertising.
Bruce’s response is the most disappointing part of it all. Never expected that! There is an expression – “The best form of defense is Attack!”
And some of Bruces points are also not entirely true – we arrived after and birthday party just on 2am and the door person wanted to charge us R80 still to get in! We left
Scam Scam Scam Scam!
Beater doesn’t get it. First of all BOOB I am French.
Second I am fully aware that Bruce did not deliver as promised but it is over, so its time to move on and stop going on about it the way he does. Does Queen = too much time on your hands?
. So Azayin
You did not even go in..
So how can you say what was going on…get a life you idiot or go back to the rock you climbed out from under
JACK…… What are you talking about dude? Read my posts again. Your reply here is a display of stupidity.
Supporter. Thank you for your words here. I do believe that a lot of guys understand the reasoning behind my posts and I know I have many supporters. I have no intention of replying to those who make personal attacks against me or resort to name calling. It’s a reflection of their poor character, not mine.
Again, Thank you for your support!
Pic 13. Who’s the pixy?
Is it a costume party?
