British newspapers report that Boy George, real name George O’Dowd, who was jailed for holding a rent boy captive, fears being killed by other prisoners.

The Sunday Mirror says that the 47-year-old former Culture Club singer wept in a holding cell before being taken to prison and told a cellmate that “they will try to kill me because of who I am.”

Another man in the holding cells apparently shouted out that O’Dowd was “a batty boy,” a derogatory Jamaican term for homosexual.

It has also been reported that O’Dowd has been put on suicide watch and been placed in the hospital wing of the Pentonville Prison in North London.

The star was mobbed by other prisoners when he arrived at the prison, with some asking for his autograph.

It’s been claimed that authorities also fear for O’Dowd’s safety because of his celebrity status and his sexuality.

O’Dowd was sentenced on Friday to 15 months in jail for handcuffing sex worker Audun Carlsen (29) to a hook on the wall of the singer’s flat in London during a violent drug binge last April.
