GAY PENGUINS GIVEN CHANCE TO BE FATHERS

The gay male penguin couple that was caught stealing the eggs of straight penguin couples at Polar Land in north-east China has been given two eggs to hatch.

The Austrian Times reported earlier this month that the pair had been separated from the other penguins during the hatching season so as not to disturb their breeding.

The penguins had been replacing the eggs with stones in an attempt to fool the breeding penguins.

Zookeepers explained that male penguins have a natural instinct to look after eggs and that the gay penguins were simply stealing eggs in order to fulfil this need.

Now, following complaints by visitors and activists, Zoo officials have given the couple a chance to raise two chicks.

“We decided to give them two eggs from another couple whose hatching ability had been poor and they’ve turned out to be the best parents in the whole zoo,’ said one of the keepers, reports Britain’s Daily Mail.

The zoo said that should things work out, it would use the gay penguins’ sperm to impregnate female penguins via artificial insemination to allow the pair to become “real parents”.
