GAY CANNIBAL GETS LIFE
A British court has sentenced Anthony Morley, who killed a man and ate pieces of his flesh on 23 April, to life imprisonment.
Judge James Stewart, who described the case as “one of the most gruesome” he had ruled on, rejected Morley’s claim that he had been provoked by Damien Oldfield’s unexpected sexual advances.
“Before this case I had associated cannibalism with eras long gone, with the tale of Robinson Crusoe. No longer. You have plumbed depths rarely encountered in our court,” said Stewart.
“Not only did you murder your victim by cutting his throat and stabbing him but you cut him up, cooked him and ate part of him.”
While Morley (36) was given a life sentence for murdering Oldfield (33) – which led to applause from the public gallery – he could serve a minimum of 30 years.
Morley, who was crowned Mr Gay UK in 1993, told the court that he could not remember murdering Oldfield.
He said that he was still coming to terms with his sexuality and that when Morley became physical in bed while they watched a DVD, he lost control.
