FORD BOYCOTT REINSTATED
Conservative groups in the United States have announced that they will reinstate their boycott of Ford products because of the company’s continued support of gay rights.
The nineteen organisations say that the motor manufacturer reneged on what they claim was an agreement by the company to stop supporting “…homosexual groups that promote same-sex marriage.”
The group has even set up a website asking consumers to not buy Ford motor vehicles.
The original boycott – initiated by the American Family Association in May – was suspended late last year after Ford said that it would no longer run advertising in gay publications for its Jaguar and Land Rover brands.
The organisations loudly proclaimed a victory at the time, but the company insisted that its decision had nothing to do with the boycott and was simply a realignment of its marketing strategy. It then decided in December to continue with some advertisements in gay media.
