“FASCISTS BETTER THAN FAGGOTS”

The grand daughter of the late Fascist leader Benito Mussolini has defended her relative’s political beliefs and wartime actions by saying it was better than being a “faggot.”

Alessandra Mussolini, a member of a right wing party just welcomed into Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s coalition, made the derogatory comments on a TV chat show in Italy.

Reuters reported that she praised her ancestral ties to “Il Duce”, and felt it was “better to be a fascist than a faggot.”

Ms Mussolini was reacting to Vladimir Luxuria, who is campaigning to become Europe’s first transgender MP, after she asked if the dictator’s descendant would lock up gay people.

Vladimir Luxuria, a former organiser of Italy’s gay pride parades, has joined the Communist Refoundation and wants to be seen as a serious politician.

Born Wladimiro Guadagno, she considers herself neither male nor female but dresses as a woman and prefers to be called a ‘she.’ Political observers are tipping her for a guaranteed seat as the party is expected to get at least 6% of the vote and she is top of the list for the proportional representation system.

Ms Mussolini, the daughter of Benito Mussolini’s third son, has been involved in right wing politics since 1992, in 2004 her group united with other neofascist movements to create the Alternativa Sociale (Social Alternative). They gained 1.25% of the vote at the 2004 European elections which entitled her to a seat on the European Parliament.

She has previously posed in Playboy magazine.
