ROBBIE KLAY SCOOPS SEXIEST MAN TITLE
Singer Robbie Klay has been voted the gay community’s favourite male celebrity of 2010 in the Pravda Vodka Mambaonline Sexiest Man Survey.
The results of the seventh annual poll – which received a record 7,200 votes online and via SMS – were announced at a glittering party at ZAR in Sandton, hosted by singer Jacques Terre’Blanche and Cathy Specific, on Wednesday night, attended by celebrities and the public.
“I’m flattered and so surprised to have won,” said Klay, who has dedicated his latest song Vat to his gay fanbase. “The gay community – my gay family as I like to call them – have given me so much support over the years, even during the court case, and I’m extremely grateful.”
The hunky singer, who is best known as an Afrikaans pop star, made sensational media headlines last year following his allegations that he was molested as a child by singer Jurie Els, who denied the claims and was acquitted.
“The gay community has clearly connected with both Robbie’s good looks as well as his open and generous approach to them,” said Mambaonline editor Luiz DeBarros. “He, and all the finalists, have been great sports in taking part.” A comprehensive interview with Robbie will be published on www.mambaonline.com on Monday.
Television presenter and actor Graeme Richards stepped up to the stage to take the second place position in the survey. He was followed by Top Billing host and designer Aidan Bennetts in third place and Afrikaans singer George Meiring in fourth place.
Other finalists in the 2010 survey included: Mr. Gay World 2010 Charl Van Den Berg; model and entrepreneur Denton Blomquist; Pasella host Dieter Voigt; YFM’s DJ Warras; music sensation Locnville; Calvin Klein underwear model Lunga Shabalala; Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius; and South African-based model Stevel Marc.
The 2010 Pravda Vodka Mambaonline Sexiest Man Survey was made possible by premium vodka brand Pravda Vodka and supported by Foreplay Energy Drink. Voting in the survey was via SMS and on the web at Mambaonline.com.
SEXIEST MAN. Well done Robbie. You are a real hunk!
sexy man evening. I sadly must say how disappointe i was with the whole organisation- or should i say lack of- last nite. I travelled 100 kms to be at this fumction , becuase i enjoy mamba and believes it does good work.
First there was no one at the door- i arrived at 7pm expecting it to be very busy- and we were then asked to come and pay , as if we had sneaked in.No one inside could tel us anything re door monies and were tol d the contest would be between 8-9pm. The time advertises was 7.30. Whilst I didnt expect to start at that time, could we not have been told “doors open 7.30 for say Contest at 9pm.It was pretty aobvious by 9.15 that was about all the audience we were going to get, so why wait till 10pm for a very half haerted show. I must say Cathy had the decenyl to go around about 9/45 to EVERYONE , say hi and say we are starting in 10 mins. Thhis was very bad PRO for the VIPS most of whom were there by 7.30 and not a good image for gay community community org. The music was so lound when the DJ arrived he almost blasted the small audience out the building!. It was also obviou s ho w bored the audience was as they hardly applauded, never stopped talking and Cathy had to ask 3 times “do we want the winner now” or in 1/2 hr! thank heavens we didnt wait another 1/2 Hr. !! Also the bulk left as soon a sthe winner was announced.
Come on Mamba – this is not your first contest and I have attended yr film evening is the past. Why has the std dropped? again the old addage. The people will come so who cares how we treat them?? Always randy
sexy man comp. Soory one last tght. Yesterday wa world aids day. While one might not want to have made a BIG issue out of it- you possibly chos ethat day on purpose?- there was no mention of it. Possibly you could have handed out aids ribbons at the door or at least have had abig red ribbon on display??
ZAR = BLEAURG. What came across to me on Wednesday night is that the venue – ZAR – actually didnt care much about the competition, the attendees, the brand (MO) or the pink rand. Sorry Luis, but I think you were pressured into a venue that may suite the sponsors but not your brand ie Mamba Online. My only hope is that peple who were there will look past the almost hostile attitude of the venue package and see that Mamba Online is in FACT a leader brand in our community and should have taken the night a lot more serious. I enjoyed the event, ecept for minor issues whic I think were out of your control. I have and will in future support as many of the real world events that MO does as unlike other local websites, MO has a real world face and is accessable. Thank You.
ZAR. Hi fully agree , The staff werent that organised or friendly esp as the drinks were bloody expensive. Thats not mamba fault, but agree the venue not friendly or suitable, despite the owner assuring us after/ “anybody is welcome”
Robbie. Well done sexy boy!
Zar & Robbie. Was good to see robbie in the flesh – pity he’s so SHORT! lol Had a great razzle for a wednesday nite. Thanks Mamba! Hope it gets bigger!!!
