Thirty-year-old Spanish hunk wins Mr Gay World 2016
Spain has taken the Mr Gay World title for the first time, thanks to its handsome and charismatic candidate, Roger Gosalbez Pitaluga.
The 30-year-old, blue-eyed graphic designer from the city of Murcia, was crowned the winner of the annual international pageant on Saturday night in Malta.
Pitaluga describes himself as a “very friendly and positive guy”.
He said that as Mr Gay World he will “fight against the problems and fears” facing the LGBT community and hopes to help make LGBT people “more visible and normal” in society.
He competed against 20 other contestants from around the world at the grand finale ceremony at the Palazo Villa Rosa.
The finalists presented their spectacular national costumes and also walked the runaway in sexy swimwear and elegant formal wear.
Austria (Christ Krauel) was named the 1st runner up and Philippines (Christian Lacsamana) was the 2nd runner up.
While South Africa’s Oelof de Meyer failed to place in the top five (he came in seventh place), he said that he was “proud of what we presented at Mr Gay World”.
He thanked “each and everyone that supported me,” adding that “we have given a 150% and I think it was evident in everything you saw”.
De Meyer also congratulated Pitaluga, with whom he shared a room in Malta. “I am super proud of you roomie!” he wrote on Facebook.
